Anybody watching Jeopardy w/Watson?
For some reason, Jeopardy airs at 11:37 pm here, so I watched Mondays match last night. They only played 1 round on the first day as they used the rest of the time to show off Watson and how it works.

Quite good
Odd mistakes, like answering "What is Toronto?" for a category "U.S. Cities", but Watson kicked butt overall.
I wonder how much of that is due to how quickly Watson could trigger the buzzer. There was an overlay showing Watson's top 3 answers with a confidence percentage and a cut-off line, if Watson's confidence was below the cut-off it wouldn't attempt to answer and those were the questions the humans were able to buzz in on. http://www.geekcultu...rchives/1505.html |

Jeopardy! devotees know that buzzer skill is crucial—games between humans are more often won by the fastest thumb than the fastest brain. I knew it would take some lucky breaks to keep up with the computer, since it couldn't be beaten on speed. |
