There was quite a bit of time in the last half of last year when Amazon's prices were substantially better than NewEgg's or Provantage's for PC-type stuff I was looking at. Now they seem a lot higher.
E.g. Synology DS410:
Amazon - $577.59 (with "free" Prime shipping)
Provantage - $530.47 + shipping (just went to backorder status. Grr)
NewEgg - $499.99 + 12.87 shipping
I understand Amazon plays with their prices, but this seems nuts to me. Maybe they're "punishing" me for making a return recently[*]?
Have you folks noticed similar things?
Thanks.
[*] - And another thing: Amazon gave me part of the return credit as an Amazon gift card rather than fully crediting my credit card. I don't recall that happening in the past either....
Cheers,
Scott.
