If it was my kid I would say fine and leave him where he is. After sometime in adulthood he wanted to re-establish a relationship he would hafta come to a realization, you cant pick your parents or your kids. Obviously the custodial party is using the kid to get back at mom and the Judge is an idiot for even hearing this.
