I just spent wasted nearly an hour setting up an account for an ad service, then at the "activate" step they mention for the first time that there's a monthly fee.

New Yah... I noticed FB ads do that.
They clearly want you to invest the time and effort in building the ad before stinging you with a fee. It's almost bait-and-switch.
