Do AdHoc networking. Sometimes its a bugger to get working right.

Make the desktop a WAP (Wireless Access Point). Of course the Desktop will have to have wired then.

But then you'll have the Wireless Network your way... and know how to make it happen at any time you want. Then you just connect to the desktop on its regular IP Address.

Plus you get wireless browsing as a bonus.

Right now there's no phone jack near the TV, and I'm still using DSL. If I switch to cable broadband then it'll be easier. Until then, I'll probably leave the router upstairs in the office.
