The CPTN (Microsoft) deal is for patents.

"Patent Purchase Agreement
Also on November 21, 2010, Novell entered into a Patent Purchase Agreement (the “Patent Purchase Agreement”) with CPTN Holdings LLC, a Delaware limited liability company and consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft Corporation (“CPTN”). The Patent Purchase Agreement provides that, upon the terms and subject to the conditions set forth in the Patent Purchase Agreement, Novell will sell to CPTN all of Novell’s right, title and interest in 882 patents (the “Assigned Patents”) for $450 million in cash (the “Patent Sale”)."

New Re: Patents
Which patents are we talking about Yes I know 882 patents...
Which ones...

Many people come up with about 142 short on Patents Novell and SuSE have.

Seems like there is no list of Patents included in the 882
New The buyers of the patents.
http://www.macrumors...-for-450-million/

Foss Patents reports that a joint venture company involving Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, and EMC has acquired 882 patents from Novell for a sum of $450 million. Novell is undergoing a transition as it has been acquired by software company Attachmate, and the patent sale is part of the acquisition deal.

FWIW.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Bleah...
