This is different from the ARRA.
The ARRA was for 2 years and wasn't designed to be offset by spending cuts or tax increases. It was to be a stimulus package.
This new stuff must be paid for under the budget rules: http://www.washingto...html?hpid=topnews While the proposal calls for investments over six years, the White House said spending would be front-loaded with an initial $50 billion to help create jobs in the near future. IOW, it's great and makes sense (we should have had such an infrastructure bank long ago), but it's not intended to be economic stimulus (though with some luck it will be). He (and Summers and Geithner) are apparently still hoping that Bernanke and the Fed can do whatever else is necessary to keep the economy going. (It's a weak hope, IMO.) There was little hope of getting it through the congress a year ago ("OMG!! TEH TAXES!!!11!!") Cheers, Scott. |

Dude
He does what you want (and I agree with this path) and you are PISSED? Fuck you (hey, in flames, do as the flamers would, at least poorly). Because of his other priorities? Or what could possibly be done at a given time with a given amount of jugggled leverage? For all you know, he's been actively working on it, lining up support, twisting arms, and now it is finally ready for public consumption.
And you think anyone you possibly support would EVER do this type of thing, at least someone you support that has a chance of getting in? In the immortal words of Bug's: Whatta maroooon! |
