Finally saw Avatar ... Meh
Skillful graphics, but bad artistry. It was too clean. Think Star Trek vs. Bladerunner. It never felt like a real place to me.
Once you get past that, then you've got the story. Which was predictable. And the length? Holy cow, someone needs to hit that thing with a scalpel and take about an hour out. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I'd seen it in 3D, but I doubt it. --

I got that impression from seeing Sigourney Weaver on TDS
http://www.thedailys.../sigourney-weaver (6:15 video) The acting in that clip was less than inspired, to my eyes. Maybe the script had something to do with it, but still...

The story does not break new ground: The effects do. And yes, it was amazing in 3D.
