Post #330,261 by static 7/25/10 5:12:26 PM Reply	Yes, it will do that. It's one of the "be very anal"/"follow the RFC closely" switches in Courier. It used to catch a bit of spam, but I haven't looked at the logs for ages. It will usually be high-bit characters, like 'smart' quotes or em dashes in text that isn't declaring itself as 8-bit. What were you trying to send? Another CLYG newsletter? I can easily turn the setting off. Wade. Q:Is it proper to eat cheeseburgers with your fingers? A:No, the fingers should be eaten separately.

The plain-text bit is explicitly 7bit, though. The mailer app should probably be setting that to 8bit (it's already declaring the character set). Or converting emdashes to something else. Wade. The new version of the mailer app will handle that for me. (Eventually.) In the meantime, I'll have to look at how it's generating the header/encoding for the text part. -- Drew
