Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Okay, this is weird
Went up to the desktop machine and saw a half-dozen OOo docs open. So SSHed in with X forwarding enabled, gThumb, Gimp and Nautilus all open on the laptop. But all OOo apps open on the desktop. Strange.

New I have an alias...
alias ssh='ssh -A -X'

When I do this form an open command prompt:

ssh prodigal openoffice.org

It opens fully on my other machine locally. I have key authentication setup, if that makes any difference.
New That's got it

Drew
New Happening again
Still got the alias set up. Same symptoms as before. Annoying.

Drew
New Are you sure...
Your SSH Key is loaded and your SSH-Agent is running?

That is the only time it fails for me...
New Other apps open remotely as they should
It's only the OpenOffice stuff that doesn't. That's what makes this so strange.
--

Drew
New Are you logged in locally on the desktop as well?
http://bugs.debian.o...rt.cgi?bug=290902

OpenOffice seems to have a couple of longstanding issues with regards to display forwarding.
New Yup, looks like my issue exactly
Jeeze, open since 2005, still open when it was merged in Sept. 2010.

You say, "Williams, how can you get away with such political incorrectness?" It's easy. I'm a tenured professor, and I have diversified sources of income -- plus, I don't have much longer in this world.
