New Typo, and a question
"northern Japan. All steelhead" missing space after period.

Question: My grandfather fished trout throughout Pennsylvania his whole life. These streams were stocked by the state every year. Are there any trout native to the North-east? Or were they entirely introduced for sport fishing?

New Thanks, and "sort of"
There are three genera that are at lest partially called "Trout"

Oncorhynchus - Western North America and Russia including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout among others, along with all Pacific salmon.

Salmo - Europe and Asia - except Atlantic Salmon which reaches North America

Salvelinus - These are officially called "Char", exemplified by the famous Arctic Char which is circumpolar but only goes as far south as Maine (it also lives in the Alpine lakes of Switzerland and Italy - stranded from the last ice age). However, two species native to North America are called "Brook Trout" and "Lake Trout". Brook trout are popular with fly fishermen in eastern United States. Lake trout live mainly in Canada.
New I wonder what he used to catch, then?
Because these were not a fly-fishing fish. They took worms.

New They also take other forms of bait.
It's just that the fly fishermen are higher profile and more vocal (probably a more affluent group).
