New What he said.
the BIOS will let you choose 1.0-1.1/2.0 if it has 2.0 to force 1.1 on non 2.0 devices.

If it works, Linux should tell you what version in /var/log/*something* (messages daemon syslog etc...)

In either case, v2.0 is much faster.
New I'll check, but won't worry too much
This won't be an ongoing issue. Just need to hook it up long enough to move my /home to the new drive. I'll let it run overnight if it's slow.

New Some need a jumper, too.
Ran into that when I built my Myth box a few years ago. The tuner card had a USB component (no, don't ask) and it just would not work as 1.1 was not fast enough. Eventually found a jumper hiding in amongst the slots which changed some minor behaviour of the USB system. Now USB 2.0 worked. It was so wierd...

Such idiocy is unlikely to impair a mass-storage connection, though, as they will work at 1.1.

Q:Is it proper to eat cheeseburgers with your fingers?
A:No, the fingers should be eaten separately.
Will this HDD adapater work with Linux? - (drook) - (9)
         Should.. - (Ashton)
It should. I've used a similar box without issues. - (Another Scott)
Pretty much all of those adapters... - (folkert) - (5)
             How do I ensure 2.0? - (drook) - (4)
If it's not on the mobo, you can add a pci card which has it -NT - (hnick) - (3)

I'll check, but won't worry too much - (drook)
Some need a jumper, too. - (static)
         Should do. - (static)

I strongly recommend 72 as a good default.
