This smells like an IRQ conflict caused by the Linksys board. If you have the option, you may want to get your money back.
Someone in this thread http://www.computerb...php/t-157803.html managed to get it going by removing the 56k modem card.
You can also try and disable IRQ sharing. That can resolve a design defect where the Linksys board claims any and all interrupts on the line it was assigned belong to it. (But if that resolves it, I would definitely try to take the thing back...)
