New IR adaptor for iPhone? if it works with iPad then SWEET!
http://www.businessi...-a-fantasy-2010-1

I have a Pronto Pro configured for my AV equipment.

It makes using my setup so easy to use that my mom has no problem watching TV when she's visiting. Before the Pronto Pro I would have to turn the TV on before I'd leave for work as there were 3 remotes involved (1 for the TV, 1 for the cable box and 1 for the sound system). With the Pronto Pro she just hits the "ON" button and it powers everything up. She then hits the "TV" button which 1) switches the TV and surround sound to the proper inputs and then 2) displays a tabbed channel interface using buttons with channel logos.

To watch HGTV she just hits the channel logo and the Pronto spits out 229 to the tuner.

While the Pronto Pro works well, it's getting a bit long in tooth. Being able to use the iPad's display would be much nicer.

I also have a lot of INSTEON light switches and plugs in my house. There's already an app for the iPhone that can control them and I wouldn't be surprised if they updated it to work better with the iPad's larger display.

New Neat. But $50!?!
We too have zillions of remotes. It would be great to replace them with just a single one for each set, but the thought of spending so much (I recall seeing $200 remotes at one time) has always put me off.

J has an iPod Touch. If there were a $10 add-on to have it be a remote, I'd probably jump at it. $50 for an IR adapter - no thanks.

Hmm. It looks like it's been done, but very hackery - http://www.engadget....d-remote-control/

Thanks for the links! :-)

Cheers,
Scott.
New $50's a bargain, considering what I paid for the Pronto Pro
Hadn't seen the Griffin one before, doesn't look like they make it anymore.

Found the site for the adapter

New Love my Pronto, too.
But buying an iPod touch and tat IR transmitter would, for me, be way cheaper and better. Thanks for the link!
They said I was gullible ... and I believed them

Just to be fair, there's no evidence he actually knows what happened in the 1800's.
