I spent two hours sitting <100 ft downrange from the 155s, six inches outside the range stake, shooting a couple of dozen rolls of film. (By the way, did you know that the shock wave from an artillery blast will make a Nikon F3 ring like a bell?) I got several really nice shots, including a few with the flame coming through the smoke, but none with the round clearing the barrel like I wanted.

One of the guys I worked with did a similar exercise with tanks. He caught a sabot round clearing the barrel, and you could still see the "shoe" splitting off. Like this, but shot manually in the field, not triggered on a range -- http://forums.blitwi...836&postcount=658
