that is designed and equipped to help her and others with specific problems not solved from a speech at a pulpit?

It's a big church, and most of the phones are attended by old ladies who can't do anything but read the schedule to you or leave a note for the somebody.

But if you get past the institutional communication issues that are common to most big organizations, there is a lot of help available. There is a hell of a lot wrong with the Catholic Church, but being unwilling or unable to help people, no.

Catholic Social Services helped me quite a bit with one of my kids at a time when we needed it. My own parish was quite unprepared to help. Willing, but clueless.

Big organizations, internal communications. Feh. Nowhere near as bad as trying to get an answer from ATT about the availability of DSL in a building you are considering renting...
