Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Wel how deee do!
Yep... Got escorted off a Hotel property this morning after being up for 24 hours.

Sunday 4AM, TSA nicely allows me to pass without being molested. Sunday, My flight leaves GRR and then ORD on time, get to DEN about 50 minutes early. Get my Luggage from carousel 16. Board bus to Avis, get my Hyundai accent, drive on Pena Blvd to e470 to I25 to Arapahoe Road, take South Clinton to my Hotel (Extended Stay Deluxe Hotel) on East Easter.

Get checked in. First room == used not cleaned or made ready from last "Guest" and the bathroom looked like someone "sprayed" some brown media all over.

Next room, clean, I clank on the AC its 78F in the room and humid as Denver has rain right then. Also, I forgot to mention, no running water for the Hotel from 10AM to 3PM as main plumbing is being demo'd and redone. I take a 3 hour happy nap. It 80F, the compressor never turns on.

I call, politely tell the person it needs to be fixed. Go out to dinner with a friend in Denver. Come back, its still not fixed. She says I'm probably not using it correctly. I infers she need to come up and show me how to use it then. But refuses as I'm intimidating(I find out today)

Wait, there is a sign on the AC unit that specifically states "use the control on the wall" and there is a temperature push button control, a "cool-off-heat-emer" switch I put in "cool" and an "auto-on" switch I place in auto. I push the temperature down to 65. I tell her I am a REEL GUUD ENGUNEAR I noowd this tuff reel guud. Feh.

Room it 80 in the morning, I've not slept well. I am drenched. I call down to the desk and make sure they have my room scheduled to be fixed Monday... emphatic YES. I go down and get my "continental" breakfast and politely but firmly (they said aggressively) confirm my room number.

Well, I don't make it back to the room until 10PM... AC is broken, in fact they blatantly lie and say they were in my room and fixed it... I left things in the way with specific twists. Still there. No way they knew it. I get very adamant and instruct the same woman from Sunday night to leave a note that I am very pissed and emphatically want it fixed on Tuesday. If they cannot fix it, they need to call me at my number I left for them.

Well, I get no call, and I don;t get back to the room until 6:30AM this morning. Instead of going to my room, I decided to goto the front desk. Wrong move bucko. (me)

I ask if they fixed the AC in my room. They cannot confirm. I make a flippant comment to the effect of "Well if its not fixed, Ima gonna havta keel summmun".

Whoops... big mistake by me. Evidently in the Post 9/11 - DHS driven Police state, Extended Stay chain has a ZERO Tolerance for threat of *ANY KIND* be it flippant or serious. And especially that I am MARKED as "belligerent" in my file ... this is the final straw, little do I realize though.

I get up to my room and find the AC working and call down to the front desk. no answer. I go down to the front desk and specifically thank the Lady for making sure it did get done.

I go back up to my room and *JUST* lay down... Knock-Knock-Knock with what sounds like a knight stick to me. Hmmm. 6 Officer, two with tasers at the ready 4 other with weapons un-snapped. They ask if I am Gregory Folkert. I ask why? "There has been a complaint you threatened people specifically the staff and guests at this hotel." So are you Gregory Folkert? I answer yes of course. they then inform me I am to be escorted off the premises willingly or by force as I have a temporary no-trespass thinger on me. This means and Extended Stay Hotel is off limits as well in the Denver area.

It was told to me that I scared 15 customers in the Front lobby area with my flippant comment. (In reality) There was only one there with the same complaint as I had about the AC not working. And my second trip was said that I threatened her again. She was nervous when I came back down. All in all the kind constabulary told me to get the HECK OUT OF DODGE NOW.

Extended Stay, would not check me out so I could transfer the lodgings elsewhere through Priceline. She ( The Manager ) said because of all the ruckus I had caused... she had the right to keep it.

Fine. Screw Extended Stay (and Extended Stay Deluxe, Extended Stay America, Homestead Studio Suites, Crossland Studios and Studio Plus Studio hotel).

I should never have taken the "cheapest" anyway. Next best would have only been $75 extra for Candlewood Suites, which I like better and they are nicer by far. It not just sour grapes here.

The entire staff was nothing but not helpful. From the cleaning lady (begrudgingly helping an old lady clean up some spilt soap and letting her know she was lucky as the cleaning woman was on her way out the door done with shift) to the Overnight staff... talking on cell phone while ignoring new guests for at least 10 minutes and also shooing away another guest because he was old and had a walker.

Bleah. The extra I have just paid is worth it, it only is $60 more than I should have paid anyway. The people here at the Sleep Inn (Choice Hotels) are nice the room is cleaner, the AC works, the plumbing isn't broken or working badly, the toilets flush well. the showers are nice. The room is cozy vs musty.

Sorry. But Extended Stay get a big fat 0 (zero) in my book. For more than just the Escort service they provided.
New studio6 or courtyard marriot, nothing in between
and if its a new studio6 I prefer it to courtyard. Staff is usually grat at the 6 and the price is usually right, dispute the credit charge somehow
New The benefit of C by M
is consistency. For that there will usually be a premium...but you know what you are getting which can be comforting when going to strange/unfamiliar locations.
I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.
New Re: The benefit of C by M
is a privte balcony to smoke on, otherwise same as any other motel
New Forget you're always looking for the finer points ;-)

New Yep, dispute the charge.
Tell them service was not rendered for the amount charged. Make them support it. Might not be much...but would be a couple hundred of found money.

Mind if I share your story with ESA Management? (withholding name...but they'll likely know anyway with research)...this is obviously a franchise location that has standards to meet.
