New New (to me) Bike
2001 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado 1600cc

10,500 miles.

http://www.gregfolke...t/pics/2001_Bike/

Purchased Saturday Mar 28th, 2009.

These were the Craiglist pics.

Bike looks much better than they show. Only one minor problem, clutch needs to be adjusted.

Woman's Dad died back in June of '08. Dropped dead as he punched out of work. Got a good deal on it.

They wanted $6,500 for the Bike, including another exhaust, light package, 4 helmets and a bike jack for lifting and working on (it has a ratchet for locking). Ended up paying $700 less.

The Dad maintained the BIKE IN AWESOME SHAPE.
New That's a beast! Enjoy! :-)
New Zowie: torque!
fershure, with 8/10ths of a Vincent 1000cc in Each Jug.
(And likely the techno to apply same.) Clutches for such are apt to be an Interesting bit of engineering - V. employed a single-plate primary + centrifugal shoes in a drum: light, positive / no-slip.

Hmmm. that ~maroon color seems just about what I would have wanted on my Aston-Martin DB3, had karma managed to find me one. Great that it was fanatically maintained; you can never undo what slobs do. Lucky, lucky.

New Went and got it today...
50F in the rain...

Legs got chilly-willy. Only the front of my legs got wet.

Oodles of torque, good gear ratios. Runs a bit rough after sitting for nearly a year and through a winter.

Will have to wash it up and clean up some areas. Then pics and let the MODs being.

First as set of these: http://bub.com/Yamah...sb=0&pn=14-1202CG

Then a new engine guard (big one vs the puny one on there now).

Put a better set of Front Lights on it. Those cobra ones on it look ok... but I want some better chrome on it.

Then a better aircleaner (a K&N washable element probably)

A Carb kit to get rid of the hesitation. (Might go away with a tune up)

Dressup kit for the Push-Rod covers.

Polish the aluminum pieces, rather than a satin finish.
New Enjoy!

The third one burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp.
