Is the Thunderbird spam filter brain dead?

(2.0.0.21 on Win32) Why does it let through hundreds of e-mails from "MensHealth.com" and "Restricted Rx" when I mark each of them as Junk? Isn't it smart enough to look at the "From" header? Do I need to finally break down and install a separate spam filter? Grr. Cheers, Scott. (Who will probably spend time reading http://kb.mozillazin...unk_Mail_Controls today...)

I don't have anything other than Thunderbird doing mail filtering.
