Not that these settings/patches can't be anywhere else in another dist, just it was configured for big iron already. You might want to give it a shot.
Post #300,585 by folkert 12/3/08 4:03:14 PM Reply	Using a "Debian" based distro... Like Ubuntu == "server" kernel required. Debian uses "-bigmem" kernel for these functions. Unless you are using 64-bit. Then it doesn't matter. CentOS/RHEL you have to use the "ELhugemem" kernel now a day, unless you are using 64-bit again.
