I hate plumbing.
There's always some connection that requires a fitting that I don't have, necessitating a trip to the store to search through the bins that are always disorganized. Grr. I need to replace our shower faucets, but the ideal of redoing tile, etc., isn't appealing right now.
Don't use Price Pfister faucets. We've got 4 in the house here. 3 of them are less than 8 years old and they leak and their "forever" finishes are coming off and the chrome has flaked off showing green corrosion on the "brass". The kitchen faucet has had the valves replaced once already. Never again.
We've got one recent, cheap, Delta faucet on the laundry tub in the basement that works fine but gets very little use.
Our next kitchen faucet will be something other than PP. Maybe one of the more up-market brands like [link|http://www.faucetdirect.com/index.cfm/page/product:display/productId/D405040/manufacturer/Danze/categoryId/19/finish/Chrome#productSpecs|Danze], but being able to get parts at the local Lowes is appealing...
I don't know what it is, but Black-and-Decker seems to destroy the quality of every brand they take over. :-/

Yeah, I agree, they're shit. We had one in this house. What a piece of crap; lasted less than three years before a housing cracked and it started spraying water under pressure all over the counter and whoever was washing the dishes. Complete fucking junk.

Andrew's rules of plumbing.
Do not start the job later than a time when the plumbing supply stores will still be open if the job takes three times as long as it possibly can.
Everything you touch will break. You must be prepared to rip out and replace fittings all the way back to the first item that miraculously does not break.

That's an excellent rule.
Last year, replaced leaky shower fixtures for my brother who is totally mechanically inept. Took a whole day and 4 trips to Lowe's and/or Home Depot for parts or special tools.
Had to turn off water for the whole house to do it too. That would not be a good situation overnight.

For jobs that might go too long . . .
. . I always make sure I have pipe caps so if I need to I can just cap off a pipe and turn the water back on.

Don't I know it!
went to replace my shower head some months ago (just a shower head, what could go wrong?). I remove the old one, clean the threads, apply the teflon tape, and screw on the head. Try it out; it's leaking from the threads! I try a couple more times, both with teflon tape and silicon grease, keeps leaking. I tork it down. SNAP! The end of the pipe breaks off! Seems they had used a chromed PVC shower arm (cheap ba$#@%&s). So I go to remove the shower arm, and get the whole pipe into the wall, all cemented together. To make it all worse, I had to get another shower head as the pipe broke off inside the fitting, and I couldn't get it out without damaging the thread.
