New Fix it.
Our work BlackBerry won't charge from a normal USB connection on my laptop
I support around 700 berry users. This is not a commonly (or even rarely) reported issue in the 4 years I've been doing this. You either have a bad usb port on the laptop, a bad usb cable or a defective crackberry.

New I'll mention it to our BB admin.
As I just use the thing. It's our support phone, so I get it one week in five.

It may not like the USB cable I was using, but that cable's been fine on a number of other things. As has that port. It does sound firmware related, though, because with all the ones we got (we have just 10 and got them all in a batch) don't like the USB port on the front of the BB server; only the ports on the back.
