New The mind continues to boggle
Now we find that those schools wanting to offer all forms of birth control to kids as young as 11 years old weren't informing state authorities accurately.

BUT, in a new requirement they must because in maine its illegal for anyone to have sex with a minor 14 years or less.

The boggle part may just be an omission of the writer, because nowhere in [link|http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=143117&ac=PHnws|this article] is it mentioned that they would be required to notify the parents as well. Instead, the parents of the male children will get calls from the DA (because females can never be the initiator of sex).

They'll tell you - don't do that
They'll try and tell you - it's for your own good
Big Mother is watching you
Mother's protecting you
Mommy knows what's right for you...
Goodbye Freedom, Hello Mom
The Bill of Rights just disappeared
There it is - whoops it's gone!
Goodbye Freedom, Hello Mom
All your rights just disappeared
Everybody stay calm.

New Not an omission...
I saw this elsewhere and apparently their interpretation of the law states that the parents needed to give consent for the kids to get medical treatment of any sort, but once given, the kids medical privacy trumps the parents notification. Seems silly to me, but then, most legal posturing seems silly to me.

New Ya gotta love that article...
Nevermind the fact that having birth control != having sex.

Nevermind the male children vs. female children.

No, the part *I* love ...
If Anderson's office received a report of two 13-year-olds having sex, she said, each minor would be considered a victim and a perpetrator and the case likely wouldn't be prosecuted.

So, yes, the law DOES allow both children to be considered prepetrators AND TO BE PROSECUTED.
