Welcome to IWETHEY!

New got an email from a large company in the same business
they have to start with a new platform from scratch due to an outsource turning into a direct competitor. The platform is mostly chosen and I am eminently qualified to build a team to run it. They want to talk bidness with me as they know me from bidness conventions and the intarwibble.

Its in Herndon VA -
its a step upward +

so am moderately interested to see what the market is.
thanx,
bill

New Neat.
Note that there were recent layoffs at [link|http://www.news.com/AOL-lays-off-750-employees/2100-1024_3-5482478.html|another big player out there]. Traffic on the [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dulles_Technology_Corridor|Dulles Corridor] can be a problem, and a couple of the major arteries are [link|http://www.dullesgreenway.com/cgi-bin/dgmap.cfm|toll roads].

Make sure you understand the +/- of the area if you're thinking seriously about northern VA. Housing can be very spendy, and traffic is a continuing problem (though it should be a little better when the new [link|http://www.wilsonbridge.com/|Wilson Bridge] and the [link|http://www.springfieldinterchange.com/|Mixing Bowl] are finally done).

Good luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New I have been looking at manasass, pricing not too bad
and the gig would be good for at least 5 years which is a lifetime in todays economic times.
thanx,

New That's a pretty good drive...
Multiply your commute by at least 2 over what you think it should be out there.

Then multiply it by 2 again. We lived in Fair Oaks, near 66, and about 10 miles in from Manassas. 66 is the world's largest parking lot in the morning. At least the job isn't in the city... but then if it was you could take the train.

New I used to work in upper marlborough MA
and had to go to herndon twice sometimes 3 times a day. It might not be too bad at the right times
thanx,

New There was talk a few years ago of a Disney park in Manassas.
Well, [link|http://www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/mana/adhi0.htm|1993] is more than a few years ago... They had to back down. But Manassas is getting to be a popular area. I would expect it to grow more in the next few years, as Prince William County has been doing (though there are some [link|http://www.vagazette.com/news/local/va-news3_100307oct03,0,95253.story|efforts] to gain control of the growth.) Another major development proposal there wouldn't be unexpected in the next 5-10 years.

Actually, it doesn't look like the drive would be too bad, but [link|http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=manassas,+VA&daddr=Herndon,+VA&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.817312,62.138672&ie=UTF8&z=11&om=1|31 minutes] is probably wildly optimistic. :-)

Good luck.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Not too bad...
It's always better to go at right angles in that area.

15 years ago Sully Road was a small road, right on the edge of major housing developments; from that map it looks to still be. I would imagine it gets quite busy now, with the airport and all.

That was right at the edge of affordability back then too.
