Welcome to IWETHEY!

New a silly project, but mine own (180K image)
For the past several years a kind friend has hosted us at her rustic vacation cabin on the American River in California's Sierra foothills. She purchased the place twenty years ago from an ailing SF labor lawyer, who never retrieved the books, games, furniture and sundry other impedimenta. For some time I've been charmed by this poster, carelessly thumbtacked to the wall of the only actual bedroom.

Last year I received the reluctant permission of the owner to borrow the poster, which likely dates from about 1963-65, in order to scan and reprint it. The attempt to scan it in increments on my cheap little flatbed came a cropper in the event, and the recent request for the return of the original moved me to take the poster to a service bureau in San Francisco, where the thing was carefully placed on a drum scanner and the resultant image saved to CD-ROM. The artwork is dreadfully weathered—torn, stained, wrinkled—but I've been working on it in units of four square inches at a session, and by the time Photoshop and I are finished with it later this month, and once the file has gone back to the service bureau, I should have a version suitable, as they say, for framing.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New as you said, suitable for framing, nice find

New An Amazon?
Alex

New Love it.
For some reason, she is oddly reminiscent of Nurse Diesel in "High Anxiety".
(Unfortunately, I can't find a full-length picture for comparison.)

Still, she's a beaut!
Smile,
Amy
New Have you checked if Edna is still there, on 300 Columbus?
New Edna still there on [309] Columbus?
Alas, Edna appears to have been long gone by the time I first began to visit North Beach regularly in the early 1970s. The address is just a ten-minute stroll from where I sit, however, so I'll wander up that way some lunchtime and see who's doing business there today.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New Of Course! Paul Lazzarro's sister
(Er, for the forgetful - the nemesis of Billy Pilgrim.)

And this is sort of a time-warp too, no?

New Could I trouble you for a copy when you've finished?
In whatever format is most convenient.

New Re: Could I trouble you for a copy when you've finished?
Certainly. It's a largish image (a little under 14" x 22") scanned at 400 dpi, so email delivery wouldn't be realistic, and even FTP might cause Apple to balk (although they've recently increased the stingy dotmac bandwidth restrictions). Of course, there's always the tried and true: CD-ROM and transatlantic post, mature technologies both of 'em.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New Size isn't an issue if you can host it somewhere.
20Mbps down, here.

That'd be completely super. Thanks.
