New Linux Printing question
I'm trying to help my father get printing working under Linux. I installed Ubuntu Feisty on a partition I created on his computer while I was down there a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I forgot to set up his printers while I was there...So now I'm trying to configure his printers via IM and phone.

Here's the setup.

Mom has a Windows PC. It has 2 printers hooked up to it directly; one to the Printer port, and one to a USB port. Mom's computer's IP address, I'm told, is 192.168.1.100.

Dad has selected the correct printer(s) via Menu | System | Administration | Printing. In the Connection tab of the Properties window, the Host is 192.168.1.100, the Printer is correctly specified. We have tried it both with and without Mom's Windows Username and Password in the provided boxes. Every time Dad tries to Print a Test Page, the job immediately goes "On Hold."

What might we be doing wrong, and what can we try to fix this issue? Thanks...

New I'm being told they are...
...Because Dad can print to them from his machine when he's booted into Windows.

New Printer sharing must be turned on ... on the Windows machine
From there you you either use CUPS from "localhost:631" or setup using the printer configger in GNOME.
