New Rove leaving White House
[link|http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/08/13/roves-august-surprise/|NY Times]
Its 7:58 a.m. Eastern time, and Karl Roves exit from the White House emerged several hours ago in a Wall Street Journal column titled The Mark of Rove.

In confirming the exit, Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino said it was not clear how he would be replaced. Its a big loss to us, she said. If anyone on the White House staff is irreplaceable, it would be the man described in The New York Times this morning as the midwife of Mr. Bushs political persona itself.

Wow, this is big news. I can see two real possibilities. First, Cheney might have pushed him out, making the argument that they don't need to be worried about political opinion now they need to focus on what they can do in their remaining time in office. Second, Rove may be leaving to join another campaign. Either way it bears watching.

New Yup.
Who's he going to go with?

Thompson?
Giuliani?
Romney?
McCain?

Maybe he'll just be a hired gun until the nomination is a foregone conclusion. I'd probably lean toward him going with Thompson or Giuliani, but all of them have their reasons for wanting him (e.g. McCain was buying up Bush's brain trust a few months ago, but may not have the money or buzz now; Romney has the money and is smooth, but "conservatives" are still suspicious of him; Giuliani tries to be Mr. 9/11 and is closest to Bush on the GWOT, but has lots of skeletons; Thompson's still a wild-card, but he's got lots of buzz among the chattering class at the moment).

Cheers,
Scott.
New he will be the rnc rep to whoever wins, cant get too close
to the candidate as he comes with too much baggage. He will general the general election
thanx,
bill
