Old machine decided to give up main drive. Standard click click stuff.

Any recommedations on how to squeeze an hour more of life out of the thing.

I've heard of sticking them in the freezer, giving them a good rap to free heads, etc...

There isn't anything on it I'm worried about losing, but there are a couple of things on there that I would like a fighting chance at keeping (couple of mailing lists that will take some time to rebuild, etc)

Suggestions?
