Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Doesn't seem much different from a peanut allergy
Not as deadly, maybe (depends on her reactions), but they certainly ask people not to bring peanut stuff to schools with allergic children.

The sad thing is you'd think the co-worker would just do the right thing.
Regards,

-scott anderson

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New Gah.
OK, she's allergic. OK, there may be a case to ask co-workers to tone it down (but not altogether - that's too much).

Asking for damages? Fuck you and the ambulance-chasing shitbag of a lawyer you rode in on, you grasping turd.

New Agreed.
Although, like I said, if it's that bad a reaction you'd think her officemate would give the perfume bath a rest.

New To me it the same as being
suck in the elevator with the smokers coming in from their smoke break. Gack, cough, hack, wheeze.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. (Herm Albright)
New People smell. Get over it.
If they're smoking in the lift, that's a different thing.

New Bullsh*t
You may smell.
I may smell.

And either of us would be justly fired if we smelled so bad that we couldn't share an office space with someone else.

Unless we had a medical problem that caused us to smell badly no matter how hard we tried to control it. Then it might be covered by the ADA, in which case (in the US at least) it would be up to the employer to try to provide reasonable accomodations.

Which of course opens up another can of worms. What is "reasonable"?

But back to this issue.

I can't deal with Estee Lauder cosmetics. Hairspray is the worst, but pretty much anything from them is bad. When I am in a room with someone wearing anything manufactured by them I starts to wheeze and my throat feels like I'm gargling glass. So I assume I'm allergic to something within them that is common across to all those I've been exposed to.

So based on your stupid comment, I merely should choke it down and "Get over it".

Asshole.
New Yes, you should.

New Go to your room
You can come out when you can behave.
New No, its not a different thing
Toxins and irritants from cigarette smoke settle in hair and clothing and can cause severe reactions in asthmatics and people with sensitivities when exposed to this. You dont need to be blowing smoke in someone's face to trigger a reaction. At work, if I have a child admitted for asthma, the first thing I ask is if there are smokers in the home. Doesnt matter if they smoke outside. If they want their kid to get better, they have to quit smoking or have no physical contact with their child. Pick your poison, but dont poison your child.

Perfume and cleaning products are an irritant from many people. Whether people are actually allergic to fragrances is up for debate, but the symptoms are real. Wheezing, itching, burning eyes, burning mucus membranes, headache, nausea, vomiting. Sometimes fragrance can trigger migraines, or even an anaphylaxis reaction.

So yeah, people smell. But it's not our natural organic odors that make people sick. (usually).
New Wow, are you ever wrong. Too bad...
...you have to be an arsehole about it too.

"Crazy" is right, you are wrong. STFU, go away and learn better, come back when you know WTF you're talking about.

New I would say not.
NYC absolutely did not strike me as a stinky city, other than the usual things that befoul such population density, namely diesel exhaust, food places not to my taste et al. Even the swamps and industry out near Secaucus didn't smell. And I definitely didn't encounter any noxiously unwashed persons, even in the 35C heat, though there were quite a few beggers about.

I have had smelly experiences in Tokyo, though, of the uncovered sewage variety.

Wade.
