New Cat tales
I spent last weekend at a family gathering of some importance. My cat cares not about the obligation to family so I was expecting a bit of the cold shoulder treatment when I got back. She declined to be predictable. I've never seen her more clingy and demanding of attention. Everywhere I sat, stood or walked, I had company. This alone is not a newsworthy event (and neither is the following) but you're stuck with me, so tough.

Last night was a bit on the warm side. Not so much as to require me to use my window unit AC but quite enough to need a fan in order to sleep sans sweat. I only have two fans in the place, one is a tiny (4 inchish) desktop fan I use mostly to blow cigarette smoke away from me and my pc. The other is a rather powerful pole model with oscillation and multiple speeds/blades. I chose to use the one that would actually cause a breeze to occur.

My cat did not like this.

She pretty much always joins me when I go to bed. Last night however, she let me know that the wind from the fan was not appreciated. Much meowing and dirty looks, some creeping up to the crook of my arm and then retreating to a less breezy area of the mattress. And then leaving in a disgusted huff.

Today, she went from a clingy, affection-craving lump of "I missed you" to giving the mother of all cold shoulders. She didn't actually refuse her morning meal but she let me know in no uncertain manner that she was only eating it begrudgingly. She has, on those few occasions when she will recognize my presence at all, walked up near me, looked at me with scorn and then turned around and sat with her back to me.

The breach between us seemed insurmountable. Then I remembered, I have sliced turkey! Post feeding, all is well in the world of Don and Liza. Until tonight when I must once again use the cat-torture device known as The Fan of Hair Ruffling.

I foresee a higher than usual cat supply bill for a bit. Just wait till the AC is required. Door shutting time.

New Nice story.
You have a way with words. :-)

Is a pillow fort - to block the breeze for her - an option?

Cheers,
Scott.
New Doubtful
I move around too much, She will just have to deal. As much as I like her, I'm still not a "let your arm go to sleep because it has a cat on it" type of person.

New I feel your [burden]
Fortunately, Sierra is (also) her own kitty - so lap-time does not become an expectation to be fulfilled on every possible occasion - like, say the mouse hitting the coke-laced water button, forever(?)

Luckily for me as, at her 12# this irregular snuggle time works out copacetically, (and I'm now trusted to transport her in semi-comatose state, sans alarum, to some other surface.)

The occasional about-face/Screw-you! for whatever transgression - usually evaporates at meal time, as you noted. I know I'm just staff..

Er...

You can't fire an at will kitty for good cause, no cause, or even bad cause.
(But they can fire you for none of the above)
New Remember.
Dogs have owners.

Cats have staff.
