New Fat finger a chown command
I had moved some Oracle data files via a smbmount, so the ownership was wrong, which I then attempted to fix via "chmod -R oracle ."

Instead, I hit the /.

Arrg!!!!

Does Linux (Ubuntu, ie: Debian) have a command to read the package databases and go set ownership correctly?

I recall the fixmog command on SCO eons ago did that.
New I'm scared to reboot
You KNOW something needs to be SETUID which the chown cleared.

I'm screwed.

Oh well, time to reinstall.
New I've got the perfect reference platform
Primary SCSI disk.

I'll step through upgrading and installing that, to get it to the point of the SATA disks, and then write a chmod script to mirror them out.
New All better
