New Actually the DoJ has been quite active in anti-trust
perhaps surprisingly so - see DRAM (executives going to jail and big fines), and pending investigations into SRAM and IIRC, music CD's and more. I suspect that a lot of the DoJ policies are consistent between administrations and influenced by career government employees.

OTOH, to put it mildly, they could (and should) have been much better vs MS, but I'm not sure that would change with a change of party - there are plenty of Democrats in Seattle, and Hollywood is a big donor to them too. (Remember that the "everything must have DRM" bill was proposed by then Senator Fritz Hollings, a Democrat).

Not trying to start a political war, but just being realistic about politics.

New Yeah, but I couldn't resist a swipe . . .
. . at how the Republicans let Microsoft of the hook after they were thoroughly convicted and that conviction was upheld in appeal. Basically they just asked Microsoft what they would be happy with and signed off on it.

Microsoft executives admitted they had more power over computer makers after the settlement than they did before.

Judge CKK is a bit pissed that they haven't even complied with those terms.
