New Changing remote share logon used on Win2k to access WinXP?
Hi,

I need to connect to a WinXP machine that is sharing a directory called "Data" using the Network Neighborhood SMB networking stuff. At one time it had an account called XXX with a password YYY, and I was able to remotely successfully logon to that machine and access the files there from my Win2k machine.

Now that account no longer exists. It was replaced by an account called XXXuser. When I try to access that shared directory, I get a popup saying "\\\\XXX\\Data is not accessible. Access is denied. OK" apparently because it's trying to use the old logon information.

How do change the logon information that Win2k uses to access that remote WinXP machine?

Thanks muchly.

Cheers,
Scott.
New remove the...
In W2K, remove the drive mapping, and any "machine browsing connections", then persistent drive stuffs in the registry, then reboot.

refresh the network neighborhood. you should be able to "map network drive" from Windoze exploder with the proper newly defined credentials.

New More details?
On the remote machine, I can disconnect the shares by using "Tools -> Disconnect Network Drive..." but I don't know where to find the "persistent drive" stuff in the registry.

Thanks!

[edit:] I should have looked around a bit before bothering you again. According to [link|http://www.aas.duke.edu/comp/documentation/novell/servmig-latency.html|this], it's in HKey_Current_User -> Network I don't have anything on that remote machine mapped there or in other apps, so I'll try the reboot...

Cheers,
Scott.
