Scroll down about halfway
to the long descriptive post.
Sounds.. rilly good.
Sounds also, as if nothing has changed since my friend's run-in, egregious non-support, non-delivery of paid-for service call, etc. yada.
If.. all these models really are 'banding' (?) AND Dell is selling them off at lo-ball, but no warning of why: we already know what that makes Dell. Still. (Yes, yes, I've Heard about their service to corps - as described in these parts. But all real-people stories I've ever overheard are horror ones.)
I can't imagine buying Anything from those suckers sans corp. leverage, thanyouverymuch. I talked to their droids, multiply. Wordsfail. maybe ..Slime?

Well, Dell is the first Vendor...
to release a Monitor made from the new stuff from Samsung.
Even Samsung hasn't done it yet.
When it comes to these TFT monitors, it is hard to make a bad one from the right parts, as long as QC is good.
$289 for a 20.1" LCD monitor WITH added goodies, and a SAMSUNG display array... can only be good.

I question how good it really is
there's a lot of specsmanship going on in the LCD monitor biz - it's about as bad as the printer business.
For example, the rated response time is for the fastest color transition - not necessarily the average or longest one. The Dell is probably a TN display, since they're the cheapest and easiest to play specification games with. For photo work, a IPS display is best (I made sure I got one, even though it cost a little bit more), but they are getting hard to find.

AND Newegg actually has it for a similar price
[link|http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001226| SAMSUNG 204B-BK Black 20.1" 5ms DVI LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 800:1 - Retail] $349.99 with a $60 rebate == $289.99 plus $15.54 shipping.
Don't be so biased that you miss good deals just because of contra-knowledged people from support.

They can support UPTO 18 screens...
Sheesh.
Not just the 6 shown there.
If you wanna get ridiculous, you could have as many machines slaved to the primary machine and display much more than 18 screens.
I can't quite imagine the xorg.conf... but damn it'd be a bit complex and very scary.
Expensive? pshaw, what has money to do with it?

But the primary is smaller.

The real question...
How many keyboards and mice from a single machine, not to mention the screens.
