Welcome to IWETHEY!

New More than enough power now.
audio is relatively easy to deal with on the current crop of dual proc machines.

Video, however....
Too much of today's music is fashionable crap dressed as artistry.Adrian Belew
New For basic recording - yes
But for real time effects + synthesis on, say, 30 tracks, I can still hit the bottom.

But we're getting close.

New Exactly
I have a buddy who does sound at a local bar. His current rig can record up to eight tracks when he's recording one of the acts for them, but he'd like to be able to get more.

The main objection being money, of course, but as this stuff comes in that objection slowly become less and less relevant.

New Any recommendations for synth studios on OS X?
I mean, there's Garage Band, obviously, but it's not for doing serious work. I'm looking for something more like [link|http://www.flstudio.com/English/frames.html|FL Studio].

New Re: Any recommendations for synth studios on OS X?
I'm no expert, but I've been messing around with [link|http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/soundtrackpro/|Soundtrack], which appears to be Garageband on some serious steroids.

New I've looked at that one before...
Expensive, and not-so-good from the reviews I've read.

New I use DP

Its kind of pricey but there's no compromises either. Its *an* industry standard - for instance its what Danny Elfman uses to write/record his soundtracks.

New That's along the lines of what I'm looking for, thanks.
It looks very similar to FL Studio, and since I can do a competitive upgrade, it's not that spendy as far as this kind of software seems to go.

And if it's good enough for Danny Elfman...
