New H1B vs. offshoring
Here's a guy who found out [link|http://www.infoworld.com/article/06/08/15/34OPrecord_1.html|why employers love the H1B program].
Meanwhile, do I have a green card? Of course not. I\ufffdm still waiting for the processing backlog to be cleared. So I\ufffdm stuck at a low-paying job with no hope of a raise. And my six-year window as an H-1B is closing fast.
You could have asked someone who's already here. They'd have told you to expect that.

In that article is a link to this one with a [link|http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/03/29/14OPreality_1.html|seemily-reasonable reason to prefer offshoring].
Why go through the expense \ufffd including not just the visa fees but also the legal fees needed to process the visas, the time it takes to get new employees trained and up and running, plus the uncertainty, delays, and lack of permanency of investments you may have made in hiring foreign workers \ufffd when you can just contract a company outside our borders and still get most of the benefits of having the best and the brightest working for you?
Best and brightest? And here I thought it was about the cheapest. Because if we remember the lesson from earlier, [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=257182|it's not about the hot-shot programmers anyway].
