In fact, for what he thought was a surprise birthday party he was throwing for her, it was actually her and some friends springing an ambush "wedding" on him. Complete with rabbi. When he told his mother about the prank, she told him, "If there was a rabbi, and you wore a shawl, and the rabbi said you're married ... you're married."
