moving video from a camcorder to the mac

24 minutes of video into imovie (around 2 gig HD space). Took 2 hrs to compress into 121 mgb quicktime format. Shizzit.

I'm playing with video on my Powerbook

We don't have a camcorder, but I have an analog-DV bridge and I can pull clips off of my DVR.

It can get pretty processor-intensive at times converting between formats.
