Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Distributed File Systems.
I'm looking for some sort of distributed file system. Or perhaps, a replicated file system might be a better description.

Basically, I need a gaggle of web applications to be able to put a file on a local directory somewhere and all of them can see it, preferably by replication. NFS mounts on a separate server is Not A Solution. I've had a preliminary look at a few things, such as Coda and NetBlockDevice, but everything I've found so far seems alpha-quality (i.e. incomplete) or is complicated to setup. We're leery of a paid solution because that, ironically, brings support issues.

Ideas? Experiences?

New Andrew File System
Andrew File System has been in use in Scientific fields, the US Military and Colleges and Universities for quite a while. Plus it integrates well with Kerberos.

Samba doing DFS with Hosting the root and mirrors and enabling case sensitivity.
