Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Yeah. I guess I do.
I knew it would be a rough day for my son, so I rounded up a bunch of neighborhood kids and we all went to see "Nacho Libre".
Go
See
It.

Maybe it was because I got less than 3 hours of sleep last night and was really punchy, but it was the funniest movie I've seen all year. Done in the style of Napoleon Dynamite, but much funnier, IMO. I didnt stop laughing. I was laughing at parts that probably werent even intended to be funny. Jack Black is amazing in stretchy pants.

New 3 hours sleep?
ugh. get some rest. but you know that.
so what's up?
Have fun,
Carl Forde
New Just have a lot on my mind these days.
It'll soon pass, I hope.

Anyway, that movie was a great distraction.

New Did you like Napoleon Dynamite?
I could not get into it and wondered if that would bode poorly for my enjoyment of "Nacho Libre".

New I *hated* Napoleon Dynamite
I watched the entire movie waiting for something to happen and it never did.

Nacho Libre has the same kind of deadpan humor, running jokes and weird characters but the humor was much less subtle and more over the top.

I would see it again. Will probably buy the DVD when it comes out.

New Funniest film of the past couple of years?
Madagascar.

I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT!

New Watched that last night
I noticed it on HBO's schedule and set the DVR to record it. I liked the penguins. The lemurs annoyed me, though I did think they made cute steaks.

New The lemurs annoyed me, too.
I tried really hard to like that movie, but just couldnt. My kids loved it, though.

Today I was on the phone with the boss, started quoting lines from Nacho Libre, worked myself into a royal fit of laughter. Tears and everything. I hear him sigh on the other end. "Are you quite done, Laura?" Done? I was just getting started!

IMO, this movie is right up there with Spinal Tap. But I may change my mind once I finally start sleeping again.

New Odd
I liked it, but funniest in the past couple of years? If that's true, it says more about the last couple of years' worth of movies than it does about Madagascar.

Because I can't.

New I'm a bad one to answer that question
I think my wife and I have seen maybe two or three movies at the theater without the kids in the last three years. Of the kids' movies, Madagascar was pretty good. (Though so was Hoodwinked.)

But if you're telling me there were no "adult" comedies that were funnier than the kid fare ... that's what I meant when I said it was more of a comment on the competition than Madagascar.

New I think my point stands.
Hollywood comedies, by and large, aren't.

New Agreed. I am your robotic lemur king.
Although Napoleon Dynamite was damn funny too. Must have something to do with the resemblance to the younger incarnation of a certain administrative personage from around these parts.

New I'll have to see Nacho Libre then
I suspect ND is a "generational film"(not sure if that's a good term for it). A few years back, we had a movie night and watched [link|http://imdb.com/title/tt0088794/|Better Off Dead]. Everybody that was in their 30s was laughing their asses off while those in their 20ss were "huh, why was that funny?!?!"
