New He got at least one \ufffd right
"Yet human beings have a vital need for time and inner quiet to
ponder and examine life and its mysteries," he said. "Understanding
and wisdom are the fruit of a contemplative eye upon the world, and
do not come from a mere accumulation of facts, no matter how
interesting."
No matter his evident preoccupation with his fav theology - as surely one in his position is expected to be possessed by (!) He couldn't have said this one better IMhO, whatever the administered Belief System\ufffd !

Ashton
...do not come from a mere accumulation of facts, no matter how interesting.
Could run for President of Anything! - on just that phrase. It may be the single largest myopia of the Infotainment Age - this contemplation.. drowned out by 24/7 noise everywhere.
New Good point
It is indeed a wonderful sentiment. I could see it coming from, say, you... The Church, however, has a long history of specifying 'values' which are mandated by the deity(s). It does not have a real good record of accepting wisdom that differs from its own.

While undoubtedly prejudiced, I have to consider that statement totally hypocritical coming from the CEO of an organization that controls by specifying the beliefs of its members.

Hugh

New Right...
And my replies spoke directly to "wisdom" and regulation.

Hugh
