My mousemat for the cheap-arse mouse is the cardboard backing of a notepad, and yes it has occasional teleportation issues. Much less than when I using it directly on the laminate of the desk.

The Kensington mouse is used on the I-can't-believe-it's-not-Suede of my lounge, and it has never, ever teleported.

I'm almost inclined to do the experiment - swap the mice over and see if it's the mouse or the surface that is to blame. Will let you know.
