Welcome to IWETHEY!

New TCP/IP over Firewire finally functional
Well, functional enough for me to FTP (in both directions) a couple of DVD images at in excess of 10MB (yes, mega bytes) per second.

modprobe eth1394 is the key.

The interfaces on your Firewire card will then appear - mine turned up as eth1 and eth2.

This is a very cheap, fast way of doing very local (i.e. the length of a Firewire cable) networking.

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New Get some 1394b and you'll be happy
because then local will be 100m and speed will be >= 800M bits/sec

I'm happy to see a many of the new external drives (some Maxtor One Touch, WD MyBooks) coming with USB 2.0, 1394a, and 1394b.
