Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Funny thing is that Exchange uses Access as well.
A different version, mind you, but it's still Access. :P

That might have changed with the most recent version of Exchange. When I was still there, they were talking about dumping the JET DB engine for SQL Server, but it was still talk at that point.
When somebody asks you to trade your freedoms for security, it isn't your security they're talking about.
New No it doesn't.
At least as of Exchange 4, it uses the same database format and engine as SQL Server.

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New WOOO... EVEN Better!
NOT.

That is like putting a huge building on a balsa wood foundation.

New Actually Exchange uses ESE (aka Jet Blue)
Where Jet Blue is not the same as Jet Red, the engine behind Access.

I think MS tried moving to SQL Server while deveoping some version of Exchange and gave up because of performance issues.

New I didn't know that Jet Blue crashed that often
I'll avoid that airline in the future. :-)

Cheers,
Ben

New More similar than you'd think.
Jet Blue and Jet Red both came from the same base technology. There have been tweaks, of course, to make Jet Blue more "enterprise" worthy - but they're both the same basic design.

I spent some time working with the exchange group when I was at Microsoft...
