New Question
When you turn the ads off on here, does anyone else perceive that the actual text of the Forum list shrinks?

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

New Er, no...
I have double vision, which is a bit different. :-P

Besides, they look the same to me with my left eye closed too. ;-)

New Yes, I see it.
And Actually, you have gotten some questions about that recently. I get the same size now with or without ads

For me, I used to do a "CTRL+-" to make Z smaller. Now I don't.

So, something changed.

New Only one thing changed:
I removed the links from the menu bar line. I don't know why that would have affected the entire page, though.

New Re: Only one thing changed:
Nightowl's husband John here. I wanted to let you know that you didn't comment out the upper Google ads correctly, which might be why the fonts are still changing based on whether the ads are on or not. Notice the --> near the top of the screen on the ads-on version of the main page.

New Ads at the bottom!!
This is Owl this time. :)

Scott, if you moved the ads to the bottom, that's wonderful! I can see more of the screen now, and leave them on.

John also tried to explain why the font shrinks in the previous post, but it may only happen in certain browsers. Regardless, you solved the problem putting them at the bottom, and I thank you!

New They've always been there.
The only time there are ads on the top is when you aren't logged in, which explains why no one noticed the incorrect comment until now.

New Re: They've always been there.
Ah ok.

Well, the font is still awfully small. ADD EDIT: But only on the forum list page.

Is there any way to add a change font size in the preferences? I saw a way to choose a different font, but not change size. I have to increase it a lot in Opera to make it reach the old size, and I would have to do that every time. Not complaining, just asking if there's any easy way to get it back to the other size again.

EDIT: Never mind the above question, it seems that when I change the font size even in Opera, it makes the rest of the pages on here huge. Only the list is small, so I guess I'll see if I can cope with it.

Thanks anyway, sorry to bug anyone. It just takes me awhile to get used to change.

New Ads at the bottom redux
Any chance of moving the ads at the bottom below the "Mark forum read" line? That line just seems like it goes with the forum content more than the ads do.

Stephen Colbert, at the White House Correspondent's Dinner 29Apr06

New Optical illusion?
I just toggled the ads off then on and measured no change in line spacing.

On Winders, hit Ctrl+(Numberpad +) to increase the font size, Ctrl+(Numberpad -) to decrease the font size if it bothers you.

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.

Hmmmm Would that change everything I have up in Windows, or only the current page?

I may just turn the ads back on, only thing I didn't like about them up was they pushed my menu list tpretty far down. I don't have a very big screen, maybe 17 inch.

New It's got nothing to do with the ads...
...But is an issue that is apparently separate from it.

Compare:

[link|http://www.mikevitale.com/images/Screenshot-2005-Mar-10.png|http://www.mikevital...t-2005-Mar-10.png] (look in the background at the size of the "News Picks" link)

vs.

Yes, there's a year's time difference. I still haven't changed anything that would cause this, and the size change for me happened just a couple of weeks ago.

New For me it seems to.
I use Opera, and I know it can change font size at a click, but I wasn't doing that.

I'll have to play with it more later tonight, I have to get over to mom's house. I'll have John see if he can detect font size changes.

For now I have the ads back on, and it's bigger.

Thanks guys!
