Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Actually I should do that anyway
There's no way I'm going to use it. But then I wonder what will pop up.

Uhhh ... hold on a second.

drook@drookenstein:~$ sudo apt-get remove --purge quanta\nReading package lists... Done\nBuilding dependency tree... Done\nThe following packages will be REMOVED:\n kde* kdewebdev* quanta*\n0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 3 to remove and 4 not upgraded.\nNeed to get 0B of archives.\nAfter unpacking 5708kB disk space will be freed.

I don't know that I want to remove kde*.

New I'd purge that puppy.
The other two package are meta-packages that are used to make installation easier.

You don't NEED to have them.

apt-get remove --purge quanta kde kdewebdev basically only removes quanta

The meta packages are optional and really only useful for installation.

Burn'em out.

New No, not at all.
What it is is a "package" that depends on a prefdefined set of installable items.

It is for ease of installation.

Instead of and apt-get install <insert 350 specific packages to get a "workable" install of KDE>

You get to do this:apt-get install kde
