New Lucent sues Microsoft for patent infringement in Xbox 360.
[link|http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30743|the Inquirer]:
The patent, 5,227,878, was issued to Lucent on July 13th 1993 and called "Adaptive Coding and Decoding of Frames and Fields of Video".
... Microsoft has infringed this patent by releasing the Xbox 360 console, which has MPEG2 tech - it's alleged that's a breach of the Lucent patent.
Way to go, Beep! :)

New So is everyone who implements MPEG2 at risk?
I guess MS's competitors better watch out if they make too much money in the next 6-9 years, or Lucetel might come after them next.

New Or, cross-license patents.
For example, NCR used Micro Channel Architecture in their PCs.

Micro Channel Architecture, the IBM PC clone killer that didn't! :)
