New OS X Tiger
So if you have more than one person using a single Mac, do you buy the single user edition, or the family pack?

New huh? there is more than one version of the OS?
Any opinions expressed by me are mine alone, posted from my home computer, on my own time as a free american and do not reflect the opinions of any person or company that I have had professional relations with in the past 50 years. meep
New I believe it's a '# of machines' licence not '# of users'
Because even if a machine has 10 users, there'll (usually) only be one at a time capable of fully using the OS.
Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
New single, it's per machine.

New Single
The Family Pack is for up to 5 computers. It says quite clearly on the box.

It's what I bought to upgrade our Macs.

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New It may say that on the box...
... but it says "user" and "users" on the Apple web site.

At any rate, I bought the single. Thanks everyone.

Incidentally, Apple's homeschooling prices are a good bit less than the regular ones: $69 vs. $129. The only step to take is to go through the education store and click a button stating that you provide a complete school curriculum and meet the standards set by your Board of Education (which of course we do). No letters to be sent; nothing to sign, etc. It's all very lax, and I wonder how often they get taken advantage of.

New Now that you've told us
I wonder how often they get taken advantage of.
Let's see, I'd gues ... [checks Activity History] ... up to 63 more times this week.

Seriously, though, I'm betting Steve doesn't see it as being taken advantage of. (Err, "advantage of being taken"?) It's like the early days of Microsoft: Make it very easy for people to get it into schools, and nearly as easy for them to try it at home. Anything to build market share.
