It's smarter to keep the "6 month release schedule" as a flexible goal, but I'm sure it disappoints the knee-jerk Ubuntu advocates.
Unfortunately, that may result in a delay in updating MEPIS and other distros that are, or contemplate (in MEPIS's case), built on Ubuntu.
Such is life in the software world.
