New Open source, free, or demo Middleware
What kinds of Middleware is available to get without having to pay a lot? If free, it is better. I'll even settle for a demo version.

The headhunters are asking me what kind of Middleware I have worked with or at least tried.

Stuff like IBM Websphere and ORB comes to mind as ones they asked me about.

"Will code Visual BASIC for cash."
New There's a demo version of WebSphere.
[link|http://www7b.boulder.ibm.com/wsdd/downloads/red/newcomerappserv.html|Here], I believe.

I just happened to be reading about WebSphere today.

Edit: nixed a superflous quote. Promise to use 'preview' in future :)
On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.

New Thanks I am downloading a copy now
I'll install it and try it out.

New JONAS or JBoss, IIRC
Both of those are free I believe. Actually, I'm sure with JONAS.

You can probably get a demo copy of BEA WebLogic as well.

I wouldn't call those middleware. They're J2EE servers. There are middleware components to them, yes, but the whole thing is more commonly called an application server.

New Sun's Forte is free middleware (30 day trial)
My Dreams aren't as empty as my conscience seems to be
New I thunk...
...Forte was their free Java IDE?

I could be wrong... but a while back I downloaded something of that name from Sun and it was an IDE.

New There are at least two, prolly three, Fortes in computing
  • Sun's Java IDE (apparently based on [link|http://www.netbeans.org|NetBeans] -- check out their History page...)
  • [link|http://www.forteinc.com|Forte Inc], makers of newsreaders Agent / Free Agent
  • And something more, I think; some maker of heavyweight CRM or ERP apps or something... I think.
